LAUNCHING IN 2008
The Centre for English Policy Studies is the first policy institute to focus on English matters and is design to stimulate lively debate and thought across a comprehensive range of policy issues. The CEPS will be formally launched in 2008, at present the directors and academics working on the project are compiling the key policy launch documents that will herald the new organisation’s arrival on the policy development scene. The CfEPS is funded independently of the State, so as to avoid compromising the integrity of our research, publications and our objective of bringing a fresh approach to contemporary debate about English matters. To further our aim of stimulating fresh thinking on England and English matters, particularly in relation to the post-devolution situation, a number of growing public forums will be attached to the CfEPS, where on-line discussions can feed into CfEPS policy development.
In providing new space for the development of fresh and relevant thinking about England and English matters, the CfEPS will provide policy papers, responses to policy proposals and plans by Government and other institutions, public and private, and will critically appraise, and provide a robust analysis of, the work of other policy institutions. Our aim is to ensure that England is clearly distinguished from Britain when it comes to policy, politics and economic, social, cultural, traditional and environmental considerations
If, as an academic you have an interest in English policy and policy-making and would like to be a part of the growing academic community taking a keen interest in English matters, then please apply for to the CEPS for Associate Status and inclusion in our regular Briefings and Bulletins. Moreover, if you wish to become involved with the team of people we have that will be evaluating papers and writing papers for the CfEPS, which we will publish, then please contact us
The CEPS will launch a number of debates in 2008 headlined by leading academics and we anticipate a growing following for the Centre, as it will be the first and only real dedicated organisation to develop policy for an on behalf of the people of England.
